Based in central Wellington, the Meat Industry Association (MIA) of New Zealand is a voluntary trade association representing New Zealand meat processors, marketers and exporters. The MIA acts and advocates on behalf of its members and provides advice on economic, trade policy, market access, employment relations, business compliance costs and technical and regulatory issues facing the industry. The MIA also provides whole of industry services to its members in the areas of innovation and halal processing.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, and leading a small team of three, this role focusses on trade policy, market access (including trade agreements and non-tariff barriers to trade), halal and advocacy.
The role requires exceptional relationship management capabilities, as you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders, both here and abroad. You will work closely with government to maintain and further enhance market access for the sector, and continue to develop relationships with other sector organisations to help advance the interests of the industry.
Another key focus for this role is the development and delivery of a communication and advocacy strategy in conjunction with key stakeholders, to effect industry influence and better position the industry for ongoing success.
As 2ic to the Chief Executive, you will play a broader role in assisting with the effective management of the administrative and substantive affairs of the MIA. As such, we are looking for someone who is not only confident in their own abilities, but confident in stepping up and getting involved in issues outside their scope of expertise.
