The 2nd Annual Red Meat Sector Conference is to be held at the Rydges Lakeland Resort, Queenstown 16 July 2012.
It is the annual conference jointly hosted by the Meat Industry Association of New Zealand Inc (MIA) - a voluntary trade association representing New Zealand meat processors, marketers and exporters; and Beef + Lamb New Zealand Ltd (B+LNZ) - the farmer owned industry organisation representing New Zealand's sheep and beef farmers.
The Red Meat Sector Conference 2012 provides delegates from across the red meat sector with a programme of high quality speakers and ample opportunity to network. The goal of the conference is to promote and foster the red meat sector by providing a framework for engagement between farmers, industry and service providers as well as showcasing expertise and best practice.
In May 2011, the MIA and B+LNZ developed the Red Meat Sector Strategy. The Strategy reflects the broad recognition of the underlying challenges to the sector's sustainable profitability, but also clearly defines the opportunities for the sector to realise its full potential and continue to be a principal driver of New Zealand's economy.
The 2nd Annual Red Meat Sector Conference will once again build on the core themes identified in the Strategy; Coordinated in-market behaviour; Efficient and aligned procurement; and Sector best practice.
Two major social events are planned during the conference; a Welcome Cocktail Function, to be held on the evening of Sunday 15 July; and a Gala Dinner to be held on the evening of Monday 16 July.
